Independent you are
Independence costs. We, as a nation have deeply began to understand the cost of independence from the British and finally, from Pakistan. Similarly, a university bearing the same name ‘Independent’ means that the student studying at that particular university is exposed to a number of ideas from different schools of thought. Independent University Bangladesh has accomplished this quite successfully. ‘The exposure to all these ideas’ is the basic principle upon which, IUB, as a brand should be put into motion.
IUB is a university that fosters Liberal Arts education with
scientific research. We can highlight the following key factors on which IUB
should be rebranded.'
Primary Slogan: ‘Teacheth Man which he knew not’
The Brand Focus: We should speak about the whole experience
of being a graduate at IUB where you get to decide yourself on your own courses
and it is competitively tough to keep a steady CGPA of 3.0 at the university
given that the rigorous level of assessment and the internationally accredited course
material. The academic aspects constitute only half of the whole subjective
experience. The universities emphasis on research is noteworthy. We, as
consumers to the Education Industry feel that research is the only variable
that should be the measurement of all education institutions where the very
purpose of the research is to solve societal problems. Minus the academics and
research, we are left with the only true philosophy to think liberally like our
respected teachers and faculties who took an ardent task to transform the whole
learning experience embedded with human emotions, real life approaches and the
solutions. We, as a spokesperson of the student community feel that the
university itself, as an organization has given us all the independence we can
think of in contrast with the other private and public universities of
Bangladesh where all students are viewed the same irrespective of their majors.
From my very own personal point of view, IUB has given me
the opportunity to meet some of the greatest personalities I ever came across.
These IUBians have gone to work for the major top brands of the world. Some
have taken a more humanitarian approach to life and engaged in the problem
solving attitude.
Therefore, to summarize the earlier paragraphs into
secondary and tertiary brand slogans, we can write the following:
Secondary Slogan: ‘Contemplate the World around you’
Tertiary Slogan: ‘Make friends who will last a life time’
These three slogans should provide the brand with a story
that fits best with a young human of 20-25 years of age.
The marketing department at IUB should work on similar
materials that should reflect all the three slogans on a regular basis.
